Contenuti | L’insegnamento intende offrire un'introduzione complessiva, attraverso l'analisi delle fonti, della storia greca dall’Età del Bronzo all'Ellenismo; elementi basilari di storiografia greca e di epigrafia greca saranno forniti attraverso una lettura attenta di testi letterari ed iscrizioni di interesse storico. |

Contents | The course aims to offer an overall and source-based introduction to Greek history from the Bronze Age to Hellenism. Basic elements of Greek historiography and Greek epigraphy will be provided through a close reading of literary texts and historical inscriptions. |

Course objectives | The course, coherently with the Dublin descriptors, aims to provide students with an effective study method, the basic knowledge of the subject and the ability to apply the acquired knowledge. Particularly, students will have to acquire: mastery of the basic lines of the historical development of the Greek world, placing facts and problems in time and space; the ability to correctly use documents for historical reconstruction purposes, knowing how to make the appropriate connections among them; the ability to expose what has been learned in a correct and coherent form, using the specific vocabulary of the discipline; the ability to argue autonomously and correctly. |
Prerequisites | Basic historical-geographical knowledge acquired during high school years. Sufficient knowledge of the Greek language to read the texts proposed during the course. |
Teaching methods | Lectures, with reading and interpretation of historical and epigraphic sources (in Greek or in Italian translation, as appropriate); possible participation in seminars or conferences. |
Evaluation methods | The assessment will take place through an oral exam, whose evaluation takes into account the level of the student's specific knowledge, the coherence of the answers and the linguistic correctness.
