Contents | The content of teaching is aimed to give appropriate methodological tools to students in order to manage design for open public spaces in view of a more resilient environment. It is intended to provide adequate capabilities into the fields of creative design, executive detail drawing, both into the built environment and into the natural environment. The knowledge of English Landscape Gardening and of Land Art experiences guides to a flexible architecture that can be disassembled. The underlying view is to "Poor Technologies" principles. |
Textbook and course materials | In addition to specific information that will be given while delivering the course, the following references are recommended: - F.A. Cerver, World of Environmental Design. Landscape Art, Whitney Barcelona 1996 |
Course objectives | In view of complex jobs, the goal is the essential knowledge for designing public spaces and the capability of making technological details with reference to requirements in the field of sustainability for open collective spaces, starting from the requirements. The approach is multiscale, complex and systemic. |
Prerequisites | Capability with main software for graphic and also sketches handmade. |
Teaching methods | Ex-tempora proofs in order to know the grade of competences. Lesson ex-cathedra. Workshops. Sketches and revisions. |
Evaluation methods | Works after lessons will be both individual and in groups, of maximum three students, with reference to capabilities of briefly giving ideas of project and then capabilities in designing at detail scale |
Other information | The evaluation follows the formative process, through periodical tests, graphic and drawing proof made in class, which are individual and design proof as homework. Particularly students should solve design problems in consideration of requirements, previewed performances, strategies. |
Course Syllabus | The program is divided into two parts, one theoretical for main principles basic knowledge for open spaces design, the other one, the other one is a laboratory workshop activity, in which students can elaborate an experimental design work. This workshop must be accorded to teacher's basic design brief. The goal is reaching at the same time creative and detail capabilities for micro-spaces in the open environment. The operative application should also include a 1/1 scale partial model of a specific micro unit of the project. The application should respond to the request of improving the quality of small- scale living spaces. |
