Obiettivi formativi | Il corso si propone di trasmettere: 1) strumenti per la conoscenza e la comprensione della letteratura artistica di età compresa tra il XVI e il XVIII secolo, prendendo a campione i padri fondatori della moderna storiografia storico-artistica; 2) la capacità di mettere in pratica tale conoscenza e comprensione anche in riferimento ad altri contesti di analogo carattere storico e artistico; 3) la capacità di elaborare in termini storici e critici giudizi sulle principali fonti storico-artistiche di età moderna; 4) abilità comunicative con la chiarezza espositiva delle argomentazioni e stimolando la libera espressione degli allievi attraverso la conoscenza critica dei testi scritti e visivi esaminati; 5) capacità di apprendimento applicate alla sfera della storia e della critica d’arte |
Prerequisiti | Adeguata conoscenza della Storia e della Storia dell'arte tra il XV e il XVIII secolo. |
Metodologie didattiche | Lettura con commento critico di fonti, ampiamente reperibili tramite web, alla cui ricerca si darà spazio nell’approccio iniziale agli argomenti del corso. Inoltre, per quest’anno, si prevedono altri corsi imperniati sulla storia al tempo di Raffaello e sulla sua fortuna presso artisti e letterati del XVI, XVII e XVIII secolo, grazie ai quali lo studente potrà pervenire ad un’approfondita conoscenza dei temi dedicati alla fortuna di Raffaello. Gli allievi saranno sollecitati ulteriormente con approfondimenti nell’ambito di un convegno che si terrà nella prima settimana di giugno, dedicato alla figura di Raffaello, alla sua fortuna critica e al dibattito critico tutt’ora in corso, con particolare riferimento ai recenti restauri degli affreschi in Vaticano. Il convegno è organizzato insieme con il Museo di Capodimonte. |
Metodi di valutazione | L’esame consiste in una prova intermedia ( a circa metà del corso) che servirà a verificare la qualità dell’apprendimento e consisterà nella trattazione di due argomenti assegnati, fra quelli trattati nel corso, e nel commento di un breve testo. In caso di esito positivo, l’esame finale verterà sui testi in programma e sugli argomenti della seconda parte del corso. |

Course objectives | The course aims to convey: 1) tools for knowledge and understanding of the art literature of the period that goes from the 16th to the 18th century, taking as a sample the founding fathers of modern historical-artistic historiography; 2) the ability to apply this knowledge and understanding in reference to other contexts of a similar historic and artistic character; 3) the ability to process in historical and critical terms reviews on major art-historical sources of the modern age; 4) the communicative ability with the clarity of the arguments and stimulating the free expression of the students through the critical understanding of written texts and visual examined; 5) the ability of learning applied to the sphere of history and of art criticism. |
Prerequisites | Adequate knowledge of history and art history between the 15th and 18th centuries is required. |
Teaching methods | Reading with critical comment of sources, widely available through the web, to whose research will be given space in the initial approach to the topics of the course. In addition, for this year, other courses, based on the history of Raphael and his fortune with artists from the XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries, are planned; thanks to it the student will be able to reach a deep knowledge of the themes dedicated to Raphael's fortune. Students will be encouraged further with in-depth coverage in the context of a conference to be held in the first week of June, dedicated to the figure of Raphael, his critical success and the critical debate that is still ongoing, with particular reference to the recent restoration of the frescoes in the Vatican. The conference is organized together with the Museum of Capodimonte. |
Evaluation methods | The exam consists of an intermediate test (approximately in the middle of the course) which will reveal the quality of learning and will include two topics assigned, among those dealt with during the course, and commenting on a short text. If case of successful, the final examination will focus on the texts of the program and the subjects of the second part of the course. |
Other information | Non-attending students will have to integrate the study of the texts in the program with the study of the essay on Winckelmann, Pensieri sull’imitazione dell’arte greca nella pittura e nella scultura, 1755 (available in the network) |
